Welcome to Rock Fire Department

Founded in 1977, a group of men from the community travelled to Springfield, MO to look at a fire truck with a $2,000 donation to get the department started with a 1949 Chevrolet Pumper truck and a lot of buckets and sacks. With that and a lot of dedicated people the Rock Volunteer Fire Department was formed to primarily control the grass fires in our community.

The years 1989 and 1990 saw some serious growth in the department with the help of Ernie Ledbetter and Dale Block. Through some advice, hard work, and their assistance we were able to purchase and equip our first dedicated "grass rig". This presented another challenge. We now had two trucks, and no building to house them in. So, in March of 1991 we broke ground on a two bay fire station which has been expanded over the years to the building you see now at the corner of Rock School Road and Highway 97.

As the years have passed, we have added a second station as well as acquired more trucks and equipment and have grown our workforce of volunteers. We have always strove to provide the best fire and emergency services possible to our community. We accomplish this mission with the help of membership dues, grants, and precious donations from our community members and fundraising efforts such as our annual Chuckwagon Dinner. Those funds help us purchase equipment needed such as Jaws of Life, trucks, pumps, protective gear, radios, and medical equipment to ensure we remain an effective resource for our community members in their times of need. 

It is our highest honor and pleasure to give of our time and resources to help our community in times when they are most vulnerable and in need of the services we provide and we look forward to continuing our service with the help of our dedicated department members and our community we serve.
